BEHIND THE STUDIO
Bloom Art Studio is a process art and creative space offering art exploration for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers along with process and art education opportunities for older children and adults.
Bloom offers a range of classes, open studio time, themed workshops and special events for children and families. Process art is a focus on the process of making art, rather than the end result. We are a fun, creative place for children where they are encouraged to use their imagination, make a mess, and express their artistic ideas. All infant, toddler, and preschool classes are structured with several stations set ups around the studio: Invitations to create, large instillations, sensory exploration, and hands-on play. Our older classes are a bit more structured, with some instruction but offer plenty of free choice, hands-on messy play and opportunities for exploration and experimentation. Our classes include parented classes for younger children, drop off classes for children who are ready, and adult classes. Children’s classes run for 5-week sessions but there are multiple opportunities per week for open studio time as well.
THE STUDIO
Bloom studio is located in the Mendenhall Annex Suite 357. We want our space to feel inviting, fun, and full of joy! A place where families can connect with each other through art and create a sense of community with other families. The space has been designed to foster independence for children, where they are invited to move at their own pace, choose which activities they engage in and for how long. Activity stations and materials for each class are intentionally placed at the child's level with their age in mind, to encourage self-help skills, cooperation, and let them take the lead. The hope of this space is to create an atmosphere where creativity and freedom of expression is encouraged and connection is the focus.
ABOUT ME
Please join me in welcoming Natasha Chester as the new owner and art extraordinaire of Bloom Studio!
Dear Bloom Families,
When I first dreamed of opening Bloom, I imagined a space where children could explore, create, and feel the joy of self-expression. Over the years, this little studio has grown into so much more - a community filled with strong connections, a place where kids can be themselves, countless moments of wonder, and so so many delightful squeals and giggles. Watching this unfold has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
Today, I want to share some big news with you. Many of you have already heard that my family and I are moving away from Juneau. With this, I am so excited to share that I am passing the paintbrush to a new owner! Natasha Chester will be stepping in to lead Bloom into it's next chapter. Natasha brings 30 years of teaching experience, a degree in Elementary and Early Education! She has a passion of teaching art, a love of working with kids and seeing the world through their eyes. Natasha brings a fresh energy and vision that I know will help Bloom continue to thrive! I couldn't imagine a better person to carry this dream forward. Natasha and I have been working together for months to ensure that Bloom keeps all of it's current magic. She plans on keeping all of the current programming the same, while also adding some fun additions!
While my heart is full of mixed emotions-gratitude, nostalgia, and excitement- I feel a deep peace knowing this space will continue to nurture imagination and community. Thank you for trusting me with your children and supporting this little dream of mine. The memories we have made together will always be some of the brightest colors in my life.
Please join me in warmly welcoming Natasha to the studio family. I can't wait for you to meet her and experience all of the wonderful things ahead.
With love and gratitude,
Miss Talea
